Biography

Dr. Perry is a Behavioral Scientist, ISPCAN NEXT Convener, and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development in the School of Public Health at Georgia State University. She is passionate about enhancing child well-being and resilience globally by examining how positive and adverse childhood experiences shape health outcomes, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This understanding guides her implementation science-focused work as she adapts and evaluates evidence-based parenting programs to increase their accessibility and reach—particularly among families who need them most—empowering caregivers to create more nurturing environments for children.

Beyond research, Dr. Perry collaborates with NGOs, building their capacity and supporting their program evaluation and research initiatives. She has collaborated with organizations such as ChildFund International, the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy, ThriveSS Inc., and the Starr Institute to develop monitoring and evaluation plans at both the program and organizational levels, enhance the visibility of programs through the dissemination of findings, and strengthen efforts to bolster resilience for children and families.

Research Interests

The research of Dr. Perry applies epidemiologic, advanced quantitative, and qualitative methods to study violence and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and their related mental and sexual health outcomes among children and youth in the US and globally. This understanding guides her community-based implementation science-focused work as she adapts and evaluates evidence-based parenting programs to increase their accessibility and reach—particularly among families who need them most—empowering caregivers to create more nurturing environments for children.
