Dr. Emily Dworkin Honored with the 2024 Bela and Chaim Danieli Early Career Professional Award
Dr. Emily Dworkin, Acting Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and Research Affiliate at the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Research at UCCS, was recently honored with the Bela and Chaim Danieli Early Career Professional Award by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). Dworkin earned the award for her contributions to the study of traumatic stress and her dedication to research and support for those affected by trauma.
Dr. Dworkin is dedicated to supporting survivors of assault in their journey to healing from trauma by identifying specific factors that facilitate recovery. She has crafted approaches aimed at enhancing recovery outcomes for survivors. Her efforts extend to collaborating with marginalized communities and local partners to assist in the healing process.
Dr. Yael Danieli established the Bela and Chaim Danieli Early Career Professional Award in memory of her parents to recognize the contributions made by individuals in the field of traumatic stress within the initial eight years of their careers. Dr. Dworkin’s tireless efforts in survivor advocacy and commitment to trauma research have truly made her a deserving recipient of this award.
