The Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience provides a variety of training, empowerment, and peer support opportunities through the Community Training and Empowerment division. From organizational peer support training for employees, to community trainings and workshops on becoming trauma-informed, to the various GRIT trainings, Community Training & Empowerment teaches the skills needed to build mental health resiliency.

First Priority Peer Support Program

The First Priority Peer Support Program provides a powerful way for organizations to support employees experiencing stress or trauma, including secondary traumatic stress and burnout. The program offers training for volunteers within your organization to become Peer Supporters, providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to offer support to colleagues experiencing stress or burnout.

 

Trauma Training Program

The Trauma Training Program is an online program designed to give professionals and students a basic understanding of the symptoms, impact, and treatment of trauma in several populations. Past students include victims’ advocates, police officers, graduate, and undergraduate students from a variety of fields, healthcare workers, and individuals who have experienced stress or trauma themselves. The program offers two eight-week courses, including articles, videos, media, and informed discussions.

 

Community Trainings & Workshops Program

Lastly, our Community Trainings & Workshops program offers organizations and communities a range of mental health and wellness workshops, including stress management, conflict resolution, and communications training. Greater Resilience Information Toolkit (GRIT)

The Greater Resilience Information Toolkit (GRIT) is a free, online, self-guided resilience training program developed by the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience. Designed to be utilized within one's social networks, GRIT aims to empower individuals to support their communities in the aftermath of trauma. The program offers evidence-based strategies to help participants identify signs of distress in others and provide appropriate support. GRIT has been implemented across all 50 U.S. states and in 51 countries worldwide, with trained GRIT Coaches delivering tailored training to various populations. The program offers specialized trainings, including GRIT-LEAD, GRIT-4ED, GRIT-4HEALTH, and GRIT-SERVE, to address resilience in different work environments. GRIT's approach emphasizes the importance of nurturing relationships and leveraging local resources to build more resilient communities.
