GRIT-e: A Resource for Fostering Worldwide Resilience

In today’s world where resilience holds importance like never before, the emergence of the GRIT-e web application stands out as a tool for nurturing strength and resilience in individuals and communities alike. Designed to complement the GRIT (Greater Resilience Information Toolkit) initiative by the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience at UCCS, GRIT-e aims to empower individuals to confront hardships and recover from obstacles they may face in their lives.

A Global Initiative for Local Resilience

The GRIT program has expanded beyond its roots to become a phenomenon, with a presence in every state in the United States and 51 nations worldwide; GRIT Coaches offer tailored training designed for specific populations to cultivate resilience skills that are both useful and impactful in helping individuals and communities overcome challenges collectively.

The launch of GRIT-e represents an advancement in increasing the accessibility of the GRIT program. Supported by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) from El Paso County in Colorado, GRIT-e was created as a community-oriented initiative aimed at strengthening resilience and fostering support systems. The platform functions as a hub where GRIT Coaches can interact, exchange ideas and insights while accessing a range of resources tailored to enhance their training and impact.

Building Bridges Between Coaches to Empower Communities

GRIT-e serves as more than a training platform; it acts as a tool for fostering community connections. GRIT Coaches can leverage the app to keep in touch with professionals who have also undergone resilience building training. Through this platform they can share techniques and insights, exchange ideas on methods, and provide each other with support forming a network that transcends geographic boundaries. This global network allows for the transfer of knowledge and experiences across communities contributing to the creation of a resilient and closely interconnected world.

Furthermore, GRIT-e provides a variety of tools such as video tutorials and training updates as well as articles discussing the most recent findings in resilience studies. This content along with the other GRIT-e tools guarantees that GRIT Coaches have access to the information needed to assist individuals in their communities.

Why GRIT-e Matters

The importance of human resilience is universal - from those facing natural calamities to those facing financial struggles, and those facing personal obstacles in everyday life situations. GRIT-e offers a hands-on approach for resilience mentors to further their training and engage with a community, while having access to resources that can genuinely impact the individuals they support. By establishing this platform, the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience is ensuring that the core concepts of the GRIT program can now reach a wider audience than ever before.

In the face of difficulties, the significance of initiatives such as GRIT and the utilization of GRIT-e has become increasingly apparent with each passing day. GRIT-e serves not only as an asset for current coaches but also as a way for communities worldwide to nurture their combined capabilities. It serves as a reminder that despite facing challenges, the human ability to bounce back is a trait that can be taught to others - reaching one individual, one family, and one community, at a time.
