Thomas Schroeppel, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Schroeppel grew up in southern Minnesota and attended college in Boston followed by Medical School at the University of Minnesota. Surgical residency was completed in 2005 at the Gundersen Clinic in La Crosse, WI followed by a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care and Trauma at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN at the Elvis Presley Regional Trauma Center. He then became faculty at the University of Tennessee and stayed for 10 years rising through the ranks to Associate Professor of Surgery with Tenure. An opportunity to develop a trauma and research program became available at UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs in 2016. He relocated and has been a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the trauma medical director since arriving in Colorado Springs. Since his arrival, the trauma center has been verified as a Level 1 Program and the research program has produced in excess of 25 peer reviewed publications in the last 3 years. He is a research affiliate with the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience.
