Biography

Ms. Decker provides direct clinical services to adolescent and adult trauma survivors while also serving as a member of the research team at the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience. Since joining the University in 2009, Ms. Decker has held a variety of research and clinical leadership positions, including Interim Clinic Director, Clinical Supervisor, Graduate Student Training Coordinator, and Senior Professional Research Assistant. Ms. Decker brings 25 years of experience promoting resilience within individuals, families and communities utilizing evidenced-based practices (e.g., EMDR, CPT, & DBT) to transform the negative impact of exposure to traumatic stressors such as interpersonal violence, sexual assault, child abuse, disasters,  and combat/military trauma. Ms. Decker holds a License as a Professional Counselor (LPC) having graduated from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and periodically teaches both undergraduate and graduate psychology courses at UCCS. She strives to maintain balance between her work and home life and enjoys spending time with her family hiking and biking in the Colorado Rockies.
