Ruschelle Leone, Ph.D.

Ruschelle M. Leone earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University and completed a predoctoral clinical internship in the Substance Abuse Track at the Charleston Consortium. She is an Associate Professor in the Division of Addiction Science, Prevention, and Treatment within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Anschutz. Dr. Leone’s research focuses on identifying risk and protective factors for alcohol- and substance-related intimate partner and sexual violence and translating these findings into prevention programs for individuals and communities at increased risk. Her work includes NIH-funded studies on alcohol, cannabis, sexual assault resistance education, bystander intervention, sexual communication, and intimate partner violence among diverse populations. Her research has been funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the Department of Defense, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative, and the Avielle Initiative.
