Trauma Training Program

Trauma Training Program

Foundational training for individuals in stress-prone career fields on the psychological impact of stress and trauma

The Trauma Training Program is an online program designed to give professionals and students a basic understanding of the symptoms, impact, and treatment of trauma in several populations. Past students include victims’ advocates, police officers, graduate, and undergraduate students from a variety of fields, healthcare workers, and individuals who have experienced stress or trauma themselves. This program consists of two eight-week courses including articles, videos, media, and informed discussions. There are no scheduled meeting times, rather students move through the material and share thoughts and reflections in weekly discussions.

The Trauma Training Program provides a foundational understanding of how stress and trauma impact the mind and body, as well as the impact of trauma on different populations. Students can apply information they have learned in this course to their own experiences of stress and trauma and/or in their occupational or educational experiences in working with individuals who have experienced stress and trauma.

Students will receive a certificate of completion upon conclusion of both courses; however, this program is not a Certificate Program. This program will benefit professionals working in clinical settings, emergency response, education, the medical field, the legal field, and anyone that works with individuals who have experienced traumatic events, as well as current or prospective students interested in going into any of the above fields.

Testimonials

“I believe that this course is important for every human being, regardless of their profession or position in life.”

“I not only gained insight of PTSD symptoms, treatments, and risk factors but I also learned quite a lot about stress and traumatic stress and how it impacts individuals in both mind and body. After really diving into this course, I can start to be more aware of others and how their life experiences have shaped them into what they are today.”

“This class has helped me deepen my understanding of how a traumatic emotional experience can impact the brain and body. I feel more comfortable explaining the initial benefits of the hormone response and how that continued response becomes detrimental to the overall health and well-being of a patient. I am also more aware of our capacity to mold our own brains, and I desire to be a source of positivity, pointing patients toward their ability to find healing from PTSD.”

"As a military veteran who struggles from traumas this program provided a way for me to better understand myself and how to assist other female veterans. As female veterans, there are not many resources that are explicitly for us and I intend to use my teachings to support other women. Additionally, this program helped me better understand how to help others through the sexual assault, harassment, and suicide prevention programs in which I provide support for survivors."
